Creative Thursday ~ SOS/Sketch and "They Call Her Icebox" part 1

Hey there! It seems I'm in my niche with a very busy job and a very busy life at the football fields lately! But if I can squeeze out a page, you'll probably still see the kids. :-D

Here is my cutie all ready for football practice!

Come on back this weekend to read the entire story of how we got here and page two of this layout...

But for now, here is a SOS-sketch inspired page!

Tuesday Special ~ Games, Cards and SOS Sketches!

Stumped isn't even the word.

The challenge:
STASH: Game card and/or game pieces (Bingo card, playing card, wooden game pieces, etc.)

Took me weeks to figure something out! I wanted to scrap some Lego pictures with real Legos on the page, but I had already scrapped them. :) Then (duh!) remembered my over-extensively large playing card collection. Choosing from Yankees cards, Keuka Lake, Georgia, and Disney cards (among too many others), I found one of my favorite pictures from this year's camping trip to the Fingerlakes, NY and matched it with a Watkins Glen joker.

It's a rather simple page this time (I even forgot to put a title on!), but I'd rather the photo take center stage on this one. And do we need to mention the cascading journaling like a waterfall? =)

Watkins Glen Waterfall by Lindsey Krauss.
Supplies: Paper, rub-ons, tag sticker: Cosmo Cricket.
I had some Karen Foster on the page, but she never made it on. :)
So come stop by the SOS blog, and take up this sketch - after your next family game night, scrap it!

Enjoy. And thanks for stopping by. Next time we walk, I'm going to try to remember to shout this out from top of the hundreds of steps at the end of the hike, lol:
Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." ...

Creative Thursday ~ A sketch and some bling at SOS!

And yet again, a red, white, and blue layout! They must be my summer colors...

So another sketch from Scrap Our Stash! Love...

Flag 13 by Lindsey Krauss. Supplies:Paper: CherryArte; Cardstock: Canson; Letters: Pink Paislee, American Crafts; Metal: Craft n Craftin'; Corrugated shapes: Jillibean Soup; Glitter: Stickles (Ranger), Paint: Making Memories, Cutting tool (for tracing): Creative Memories; Ink: Ranger; Other: Glitter buttons, glitter brad.

SOS's sketch: I always look forward to these...

And a little fun with my own fingers! Since I didn't have any mist in the color blue I wanted, I made it! Actually, truth be told, I made it long ago. It's just a mix of Stickles, blue MM paint and some water. I have a few of these made, and I keep them in those little plastic containers with lids, that you might get soy sauce or dressing in. I guess I couldn't find a paintbrush, because it was just easier to use fingers. Finger-painting!

Creative Thursday ~ Mixed Alpha Sketch at SOS

Always love a sketch - especially a sketch by Rochelle Spears at Scrap Our Stash!
We got to use Rochelle's sketch and tried to use up some {mixed}alphas. Not only was my title using up some bits and pieces of orange alphas, but my two tiny chevron in the lower right are actually upside-down "v's" - which I'm guessing is how the whole chevron trend started. :)

Tuesday Special ~ go Google!

Here's how this happened:

1. I can't stop watching Catfish on MTV. I'm on the last posted episode. It's a documentary-style show where Nev & co. helps people in online relationships meet their suitors. It's a wild ride - you never know what's at the end of the show!

2. Nev uses Google images or pictures or something similar to search pictures. He plops and drops. So I just noticed on Google images the little camera icon in the search box. I started copying and pasting my profile pics' urls into the search to see what came up. (Remember that app where your pic can be matched up with a similar-looking celeb? That's what I was going for.) :) haha. A little Friday night fun, lol.

3. I searched one of the pics I use for scrapbooking and came up with this post - I just found out I won a contest from a month ago! Haha, fun! I wasn't sure about this layout, either, so this was a fun surprise.

4. At Paper Secrets!

Creative Thursday ~ Coney Memories

Just needed some time to myself and a creative outlet so I stumbled upon a challenge - a 4-in-1 - right up my alley.

Started with a sketch from Granddiva's Creative Corner

which led to the Sept. and bonus challenges at Rochelle Spears's
  • 3 patterned papers
  • stamped image OR masking
  • glitter

and then to Kristi B's technique challenge
Paint, ink or mist your chipboard alphas then add a pattern with your stamps.

and finally landed on the 3 of 5 color combo challenge at Scrappin'n'Happy

...and here is my final result. It was nowhere where I began, but I like where it ended!

I guess I missed the part where they told us we only had to do 2 of the 4 challenges, but I managed them all in!
1. sketch (I chose a series of pics from Cony Island for the sketch, but I adore this photo and needed a close up, so I blew it up and decided on no other pics on this page. I think it now requires a page two.)
2. 3 patterned papers (tough to 4 squeeze in there!), stamped image on the chipboard, glitter (flower center)
3. technique (Sharpie-d, inked, sprayed and stamped white on chipboard)
4. color challenge (it was close, but I see yellow, brown and gray-white).

Can't tell you how good it feels to use some old GinX flowers I've had for, oh, ten years or so?! Go Old scrappin'!

Supplies: Cardstock: Making Memories, Paper: Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye, Chipboard: , Ink: Ink It Up, Marker: Sharpie, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Imagination Project, Eyelets: Making Memories, Other: ribbon. Font: 2Peas Tattered Lace.

Creative Thursday ~ Tooth Fairy {2012 page 1}

It's a fact that our son lost his tooth just last year, just before he turned 7. This little one always has to outdo - she lost during Fall Kindergarten - in an apple! She will no longer eat a whole apple and doesn't want to wiggle the other lost tooth.

The tooth fairy came (even though she forgot to put her tooth under her pillow, good thing Mom remembered!). McK got a $2 bill, like her brother did, 5 more $1 bills, and a picture of a little tooth fairy. It's what her brother got, too. Oh and the GLITTER!! Everywhere!! That fairy tracked glitter in the front door, up the stairs, in the hallway and ALL OVER McK. She was thrilled!

p.s. that's all the journaling I forgot to add before snapping the pic. (:

So this was designed with a sketch from My Sketch World ~ I knew I wanted pink, but finding mint green (not bright or any other shade) was difficult!

imaginisce, imagine that!

I saw this sketch while browsing the blogs of a few of ScrapStreet's newest staff and just had to try. It was so much fun - and, not surprisingly, quite literal after being turned upside-down (quite like my life usually is...) I used the MLShoebox line I received as a prize and polished off some late summer pics of hubby & the kids. It's fun and bright and is one of my favs of the year, I think.

Sketch:
My take - I saw this sketch printed and laying upside down on my table and that's when I put green hills in where the banners should be (and exactly where my journaling landed - look closely!). I couldn't bring myself to banner anyway, it's one trend I'm hoping to steer clear of. :) I like your banners, I just don't want to do mine!
Paper: My Little Shoebox
Sticky stitches: ColorBok
Pen: Sharpie
Other: Felt rickrack, pop adhesive

So I guess the sketch (for me) should look a little more like this:

Magistical Memories

Back a long, long time ago (like 2 weeks), I actually had the chance to create a page for myself (before I realized that all these deadlines were upon me). I used a Magistical Memories sketch and was inspired. Although I normally seem to reach for the Mag Mem chipboard first, today it was some Twiddleybitz leaves that fell on the autumn floor. Simple, fresh, and yes, I stamped - willingly, with no one forcing me or otherwise tying my shoes together. I can't believe I had these Inque Boutique and had never used them. (See what unpacking into a new house has done to me?) That and the reallllly old Junkitz that I saved (aw man, do I miss that company...)

Finally a page, I'm really happy with - you may know by now my favorite season to scrap is autumn and I love anything with circles on it. :) Anyway, back to work before my editors realize I was having fun. ;)
